Kat is a cat, and made from mostly cat hair. She is fully jointed and able to stand on two-legs or four with a bit of manipulation of her strings. Beads keep her joints going in the right direction. Her face and paws are made from wool. Cat hair is very easy to felt, but difficult to get details with. For those curious, this hair is from my cats and washed thoroughly before using. Kat is very playful and enjoys yarn and hanging out with other cats.

Orchid was my second marionette-style puppet and has many more movements than Marie (below). She is a minor deity and spends most of her time reading and enchanting flowers, as she finds most humans quite bothersome. Orchid's hands, arms, head, legs, and feet move with strings (not shown). Her head is wool, body is stuffed felt, hands and feet are polymer clay, and accessories and clothing are repurposed human things (though don't tell her that!).

Marie the Marionette, as named by one of my teen students. Head is wool, body is felt, hands are clay and clothes are fabric. Her head and arms move with strings (not shown). My first attempt at making a marionette-style puppet - and thankfully a successful one!
Marie is a rather no-nonsense lady, she enjoys reading books and cooking, and insists on no shoes in the house. |
